2012 mica

The Wine

mica comes from the same vineyards as Buccella and is made with the same meticulous care as the Buccella wines.  mica is made from grapes which express more forward fruit, plush tannin and freshness.  mica is a wine built for immediate enjoyment and medium-term aging.

Tasting Notes

It is a generous wine with aromas of black cherry and cassis with an undertone of dark chocolate and caramel.  The palate is fresh, lively and bright with lush and smooth tannins with flavors of dark chocolate, fresh tobacco and boysenberry pie.

Name:                        The Latin term for “morsel,” not quite the mouthful of our flagship  wine, Buccella, but definitely something to taste  (pronounced “me-kah”)

History:                    As new plantings of high quality grapes became available for the Buccella program, we were able to designate some previous Buccella fruit to the mica program, which we debuted with the 2006 vintage.
